DLR-ONERA-JAXA Trilateral Meeting held in Osaka, Japan
On 1st October 2025, during Expo 2025 in Osaka, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the French Aerospace Lab (ONERA), and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) held a trilateral meeting to promote research collaboration in the field of aeronautics.
DLR, ONERA and JAXA have maintained close collaboration over many years through joint research and other cooperative efforts. Bringing together representatives from each institute’s aviation division, the participants shared updates on the progress of ongoing joint research projects and exchanged views on future trilateral cooperation.
Prior to the main meeting, representatives from the three organizations visited exhibitions related to advanced air mobility and the JAXA booth at the Expo 2025 site. They also toured factories and facilities of aerospace companies, engaging in discussions and receiving briefings on the latest developments in Japan’s aviation technology.
On the following day, October 2, JAXA and ONERA held a bilateral meeting at JAXA’s Chofu Aerospace Center in Tokyo to exchange views on collaborative efforts between the two organizations. The meeting included a signing ceremony to extend the joint research agreement concerning aircraft lightning phenomena.
The next trilateral meeting is scheduled to be held in May 2026 in France.
