DLR–ONERA–JAXA Trilateral Meeting and ONERA–JAXA High-Level Meeting Held in France
On May 13, a trilateral meeting between the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the French Aerospace Lab (ONERA), and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) was held in Modane, France, to promote research collaboration in the field of aeronautics.
DLR, ONERA, and JAXA have maintained a close partnership over the years through joint research activities and other collaborative initiatives. This 20th trilateral meeting brought together representatives from the three organizations in the field of aeronautics to review the progress of ongoing joint research projects and to exchange views on future collaboration themes and strategic directions.
Prior to the meeting, participants visited ONERA’s Modane site, including its Large Transonic Wind Tunnel, gaining insight into its advanced testing facilities.
In addition, ahead of the trilateral meeting, an ONERA–JAXA high-level meeting was held in Palaiseau, France, on May 11. ONERA CEO Dr. Emmanuel Chiva, who assumed his position in May, held his first meeting with Dr. Takeshi Ito, Deputy Director General of JAXA’s Aviation Technology Directorate. During the meeting, representatives of ONERA and JAXA exchanged views on recent developments and future cooperation, and reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration.
The next DLR–ONERA–JAXA trilateral meeting is scheduled to be held in Germany in 2026.
