FLIGHT PATH No.23 | 2019 SUMMER

<In Pictures>

Optical fiber sensors with a diameter of about 0.2 mm were attached on the lower surface of the main wings of "Hisho," a jet flying test bed, to measure in-flight wing deformation. (The sensors are beneath the orange film in the photo.) Detailed data measured during flights will be used to achieve weight reduction and other improvements in future aircraft. Real-time monitoring of the aircraft state contributes to maintenance and inspection as well as efficient operation. (Photo taken in 2017)
